Wágner, a New York City native, is an accomplished recording artist best known as the former frontman of the mid-nineties alternative rock band Nerve. His impactful and emotive vocal style has set him apart in the industry since the early days of his career. His journey in music began at the age of 15 when he recorded two demos, “Dust” and “Visions of You”, both of which were swiftly transformed into a 7″ single and hand-distributed.
Inspired by the New Romantics and the New Wave movement that was prominent in 1986, Wágner reimagined these demos for his debut EP, A Way of Life, which also featured “The Third Wave of Sorrow” and a dance club remix. Rob “Bung” Bengston produced and engineered the EP at The Workshoppe Recording Studios, a studio recognized for its work with The Fixx’s Cy Curnin and known for housing Blondie’s “Betrok Tapes.” Adding to the studio’s reputation for high-profile collaborations, Victor Loud, renowned touring and session drummer for Billy Idol, made a guest appearance on the 12”, contributing both drum and additional percussion parts.
Wágner’s debut EP was released by Novus Records, benefiting from national distribution through Important Record Distributors, which subsequently became Relativity Entertainment Distribution (RED) in the 1990s and, ultimately, Sony/RED Distribution.
After a pause from the music scene spanning nearly three decades, Wágner has re-emerged in Orlando, Florida, as a solo artist. In 2023, he joined forces with multi-instrumentalist Mauricio Mirapalheta, known for his roots in the metal and punk genres. Mirapalheta has brought his considerable talents to bear as a collaborator, instrumentalist, and producer alongside Wágner in this exciting new phase of his career.
